i have been job hunting for 6 months now and still haven't had any success in finding employment. I was terminated from my previous job. an organization I have spent a good number of years with. Within 6 months from September 2025 to now March 2026. I have applied for 100+ jobs and only had 11 interviews and all 11 jobs I got interviewed for. I was unsuccessful. the thing I don't understand is, why is it that I never progress further than the interview stage?

I personally want to know how many employers actually analyse applicants themselves or have gone fudge it..... A.I. is definitely under-developed enough to this, too help guarantee we all have less hope and faith in not just too work in New Zealand, but also living here... 🤮

Honestly, like it’s getting irritating getting Notified on seek “You are a strong applicant for this role”, go to apply for it & then get a email days later saying “sorry you were unsuccessful for this role, they have found a better suitable candidate for this role. Like Don’t hype me up at the beginning and then make me apply for it to get turned away lol. Maybe if anyone has any techniques on How I can go about applying for my Jobs, to ensure that I pass through the applying stage lol.

The job market is brutal. I’ve applied to roles since October some with zero responses. AI screening systems reject qualified candidates who lack specific keywords, creating a frustrating catch 22. HR gets overwhelmed with applications, so they rely on poorly programmed AI that doesn’t truly understand qualifications. You almost need AI to write your CV/cover letter just to get past AI screening. It feels hopeless when algorithms, not people, decide your fate before anyone reads your application

This is so sad i have been looking for a permanent full time a job where i can eat 3x a day and yet i only get some promises from the agencies and yet they didn't even fulfil it. Oh dear God can someone over here in seek help me find a stable permanent full time please? Just any job as long as its a job i will take it. I have a customer service, front desk, warehousing and delivering experience. Please someone hire me or help me find a job i already went to several agencies and still no luck.

I’ve never seen the NZ job market this bad before!! People with real skills and experience are losing their jobs or stuck taking gig work just to pay the bills. Others are applying again and again, doing everything right, and still no replies at all..... We hear the market is getting better, but jobs are disappearing and the people still working are stretched thin. So is this just a hard phase we have to get through or is this the new normal here??
