Just had a final round interview at one of NZ's most well known consumer brands. Felt great, they said they'd be in touch by end of week...so that was actually 3 weeks ago. No response to two follow up emails. Is ghosting after a final round just normal now or is something else going on???

Here's one for the books - I asked a candidate a standard question "tell me how you handle conflict at work." This young lady stared me dead in the eye and said "I make things right - I get even." I nervously laughed. She was not kidding, she went on about how she "got revenge" on a colleague she had beef with by sabotaging his Powerpoint slides. I thanked her for her time, walked her out. Like, I really stood at the door and made sure she got into her car.

Feeling so stupid right now 🥲 I walked out of an interview and have been overthinking it for the past 3 days! I can't even stop replaying everything I said... Is there still hope after a "we'll let you know" ???

I finally got an interview invite. Felt good for 2 seconds. Clicked it - turns out it’s an AI interviewer. So now I’m sitting there talking to a robot about my “strong communication skills” while it ignores me in real time 😫😅😂

Recently, I had applied for a Job and managed to pass 3 of the 7 interviews (yes, 7 stage interview!!). After the 3rd interview I was told I was successful reaching the next stage and just needed to provide them availability. After replying and then following up another 2 times, I was then told I didn’t get the role cause the HR person went on medical leave and the position was filled. Any tips on how to handle something like this? Is it worth escalating if I don’t even work there?

Absolutely ridiculous…unreal group interview experience. Entry-level role at a local council. 15 candidates, 10 interviewers, full-on assessment centre. We did a group task, 1-on-1 rotating interviews, then even a walk & talk with the Head of HR. I was a bit quiet in the group task and got told I wasn’t “engaged enough” and my personality didn’t really shine. No offer in the end. Lesson learnt: in group interviews, speaking up>doing it perfectly.

I think I've lost my ability to give a good interview. I'm applying for jobs and am getting some interviews but my past job rejections are affecting my nerves. I don't feel confident going in and I'm sure it shows. How can I get out of this frame of mind and regain my self-confidence -- if I ever get another interview?

i want everyones opinion, i got a phone call yesterday regarding a job and he said text me when you want to do an interview over the next few days and we will go from there. i text him the next morning saying hey im free from 2pm. he says sorry i didnt hear from you we have picked someone else!, personally dont say I have a few days if you want my response straight away??!!

Went for a job interview and site tour the other day. Some of the work was insanely physical— high risk of injury and the pay? Just $23.50 an hour. The guy interviewing me said they’d already had 189 applications in 5 days. I’m from a town of only 35K people. How anyone’s meant to survive on “low-risk” pay when even dangerous work is treated like this. Is NZ’s job market really this broken, or are people just expected to put themselves at risk for peanuts?
