Are there any managers here with interview tips from a hiring persepctive? I'm hiring a new person for my small team and I've never done this before. It's important that we find someone who's a good personality fit because we all work closely together. What are some questions I can ask that can help me get to know the interviewees personality a bit without overstepping?

I’ve always been super keen in NZ Aviation Security and NZ Customs, have been applying there consistently for a good 9-10 years at least. I always never make it to the interview stage (except once) so was wanting some really good advice on what’s the best way to understand their interviews and also what so they need for the work experience? I’ve worked in Customer Service all through my work experience and have the airport working experience too in Duty Free. Hope someone can help out :)

With 6+ years of experience in IT and software engineering, I’m looking for a chance to continue my career in New Zealand. If there are opportunities to try, or any advice on how I can start applying, I’d really appreciate your guidance. Is this normal? I interviewed for a role with the potential boss/manager and the person who is leaving - so Id be taking their role basically. The boss was warm and friendly, but the other employee seemed kind of disinterested and it's really thrown me off knowing if it was a good interview or not. Does anyone had this happen before? I feel like it's a bad sign?

Heading into an interview? Make sure you’ve had a light but satisfying brekkie and coffee—just enough to keep you energised without feeling sluggish. Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated while you wait, and prep everything you need the night before, from documents to your outfit and directions. Even a small hiccup can throw off your focus or mood, so give yourself the best chance to stay calm and collected. You’ve got this—good luck out there, legends!

When they ask "were do you see yourself in 2yrs or 5yrs" I hate this question. I just enjoy work and hope to find a wonderful place I will be at until I retire. I have no interest in climbing a lader, just love working. Would this work against me as I am not ambitious, just like to work hard in what ever role I have. Work life balance is the goal - any ambition in the workplace can tip that the wrong way.
