I used to treat interviews like I was begging for a chance. Saying yes to everything. Smiling even when something felt off. Then I met a hiring manager who straight-up said: “We’re not just evaluating you—you should be evaluating us too.” That flipped a switch. I come in prepared with questions. I pay attention to red flags. And weirdly enough? I started getting more offers because I stopped acting like I needed the job. Curious, anyone else ever shifted their interview mindset like this?

Last week I tried the STAR method - https://www.seek.co.nz/career-advice/article/how-to-use-the-star-interview-technique - in an interview in response to questions and it was really beneficial, helping me to structure my response and ensuring I highlighted my impact and achievements. I have a second interview next week with the same company which I am very excited for. I think this method helped me to progress to the second round. Has anyone else used this method? How have you found it?

Interview tip I wish someone told me earlier.😉As a senior marketer, here’s what I tell everyone! Back then, I'd use list tasks like "I managed socials, I ran ads.” But what hiring managers really want is this: How did you solve problems? Why did you make that choice? What did you learn? Even with limited experience, your thinking is your value. So tell your story like a strategist, not a task-doer. That’s how you stand out.
