I've applied for hundreds of jobs over two years. Recruiters call my CV "one of the best," but I get no interviews. Maybe I need to upskill to standing out in the post recession market?
My question on upskilling to both the hiring managers and job seekers:
• Does aone more multiple Coursera/edX/Google Certificate actively differentiate a strong CV and secure interviews?
• In your experience, is this investment a clear hiring advantage?

Are you applying for jobs requiring specific qualifications that you don’t yet have? If so, then yes it may help your chances. Otherwise it could be a tough part of the job market to get into. Some industries can be harder than others. Other things you could try: posting on LinkedIn telling people what you’re looking for & asking your network/contacts if anyone knows about any relevant vacancies or can support you in any way or researching specific companies and sending an EOI for vacancies.

To be honest, collecting entry-level certificates from many different platforms can actually work against you. It signals a lack of core competency and suggests you are indecisive about your career path. It looks like you're still exploring rather than building actual expertise.

I think it varies and depends on what the employer values. At the end of the day its always worth it to spend the time to invest on your self and improve your technical skills

Im with you on that ive got over 8 years of experience in my main field, plus years of additional experience in other fields too. Had to get my CV tweaked multiple times and 3 years later still applying for jobs. NZ is so cooked bro!

I have found LinkedIn learning really helpful for short courses to upskill. Assuming you’re in NZ? You should be able to get full access free with digital suite. Like some on here have implied, I would stick to courses that complement your current qualifications. Another option is to retrain completely, find out what degree/diploma courses are available near you. I’ve just graduated with a new degree. Also started volunteering, besides the buzz from helping people, it can help with career too.

Have you had the chance to ask for feedback on why you've been missing out Yeskay? Might help you work out if these quals are what the employer are looking for.
