I’m starting to lose hope that I can get a new job at my age. I’m 25 years into my career and I feel as if I’m being passed over for younger people whose salary expectations are lower. I’ve been applying for jobs I’d be 100% the right fit for and have heard crickets. Is it just impossible for anyone older than 35 to get a job these days? How are you supposed to get a job when you’re not ‘young’ anymore??

Oh it gets harder, especially in jobs where employers don't really value that long term experience. I still think in some positions, you pay for what you get though and some places see the ROI on hiring people who have been doing something for yonks. Having a network helps a little too, sometimes its just one or two people in the same industry. Not to just "get you the job" , but if they know you are great, they can put a word in or at least say "yeah that person is worth shortlisting"
