I've never felt so disposable or uncared for in my entire career.
The good things- Leaving at the end of the day.
The challenges- Management are incompetent and self serving. They promote a toxic culture of lip-service and gaslighting, with no real support. - The computer systems are cheap and nasty. The constant faults and outages prevent you making sales and meeting insane KPIs. - Management will harangue you over KPIs. They're unreasonably high so that they can terminate you if they want. There were times when every non-manager in my store was threatened with performance plans, because targets are intentionally unachievable. -Your KPIs don't reflect the customer service aspect of the role, and you are actively discouraged from doing all but the bare minimum to assist existing customers. - You're made to sell inferior accessories at exorbitant prices, and directed to lie about their quality. - HR and management lie (in writing) as part of their disciplinary process, if they want to dismiss you - You are disposable; Telstra is shipping as many roles overseas as possible, or seeking to replace them with AI.
