What’s it like working at SHAPE?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees consistently praise the supportive and friendly team culture at SHAPE, with colleagues who are welcoming and professional. The work/life balance and flexibility are excellent, and senior leadership is approachable and genuinely cares about their people. Employees also appreciate the thorough onboarding, interesting projects, and excellent facilities and perks.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as demanding workload and long hours during busy periods, which is typical in the construction industry. Some employees have noted that career progression can feel limited in certain roles, and management support and communication may vary across different branches. Additionally, processes can be manual in some departments, and flexible work arrangements may not always be consistently supported across all areas.

Disappointing culture behind a polished exterior
The good thingsTalented colleagues, interesting work and exposure to a substantial organisation.
The challengesMy experience within finance was significantly different from what I expected before joining. Processes could be highly manual and inefficient, with considerable reliance on spreadsheets and individual knowledge. At the same time, expectations around deadlines and analytical output remained extremely demanding. Workload prioritisation was a major concern. When several important deliverables collided, employees could be left carrying the pressure rather than deadlines, scope and stakeholder expectations being actively managed. Management support and communication also left a lot to be desired. In my experience, expectations were not always sufficiently clear and problems originating from systems, processes or resourcing could ultimately become the employee's problem to solve. There appeared to be a considerable gap between the organisation's stated people culture and my experience of how employees were actually supported under pressure.
