What’s it like working at Metso?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees at Metso value working with great teams and supportive colleagues in a friendly environment. They appreciate the flexible work hours, ability to work from home, and good benefits including additional annual leave and competitive salaries. The company's commitment to safety is also recognised as a positive aspect of the workplace culture.

However, there are some potential challenges, including variability in management experience and communication across teams, and the complexity of the matrix structure with frequent organisational changes. Employees have noted high staff turnover, opportunities to improve systems and processes, and the need for more consistent recognition and career development opportunities across the organisation.

Not recommended unless you embody the traits below and can withstand operating in toxic environments
The good thingsNot much can be said about the recent years, as the negatives ultimately outweighed the positives — which is why I decided to leave the company after such a long tenure.
The challengesIn recent years, Metso has increasingly become a breeding ground for inexperienced, self promoting directors whose primary skill appears to be overstating their capabilities during interviews. These ego driven leaders often hire equally unqualified staff who rely more on sycophancy and self inflation than genuine competence. This dynamic has created a predictable downward spiral. Highly capable employees have been leaving Metso in significant numbers, exhausted from continually compensating for the shortcomings of their teammates. One striking example is an administrative employee being promoted to a managerial role overnight based on the claim that “no one listens to them,” rather than any measurable leadership ability. This incident—one of many—reflects a broader systemic issue.

Metso gives flexibility, independence, respect, and they value their workers. Excellent company.
The good thingsThe company culture and the people. We have an amazing team! HR is also very good. They are always looking after us, finding ways to improve the workers skills, to get better benefits, they are awesome.
The challengesConstant structure changes. I like changing, it doesn't bother me. Specially when it's for the better. However, when there are too many changes, it kind of feel like lack of vision.

I will quit as soon as I get another opportunity.
The good thingsNothing, food mavbe was the best thing.
The challengesMy boss was not helpful at all, he is looking for people to fail to feed his ego instead of giving constructive feedback. Unfortunately, that is not the best approach to get good results and that is what we are having.
