The challengesNo funding to improve facilities or infrastructure. Toxic work culture in multiple sites. Despite complaints to HR toxic people allowed to thrive

Great team and flexibility, but poor management, low pay, and a poorly handled redundancy.
The good thingsOne of the aspects I valued most about my role with Breakthru/Royal Rehab was the supportive and collaborative team environment. My Team Leader and colleagues were incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to provide guidance and support. I genuinely enjoyed working alongside them each day and learning from their experience. The management team was also highly supportive, understanding, and responsive, which contributed to a positive workplace culture. Additionally, the flexibility of the role allowed me to effectively balance my professional responsibilities with my family commitments, which I greatly appreciated.
The challengesThere appeared to be a disconnect between upper management decisions and the needs of both clients and frontline staff. Client outcomes and continuity of support were not always prioritised. Pay rates were below comparable roles in the sector despite high workloads, complex client needs, and significant KPI expectations. There were ongoing challenges with management within the Dubbo office, including poor communication and a lack of respect for staff expertise and role boundaries. The redundancy process was poorly managed, with limited notice and unrealistic expectations around client transitions. Greater support, clearer direction, and more empathy for both staff and clients would have improved the process significantly.
