Solar PV Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Design Engineer to join a growing renewable energy consultancy specialising in technical feasibility, system design, engineering, and financial analysis of solar power systems.

This is an advanced-level role suited to a highly capable engineer with strong analytical, design, and project delivery skills. 

Role Overview
You will be responsible for delivering end-to-end solar PV design and engineering solutions, including technical feasibility studies, system design, modelling, and reporting. You will work directly with clients to understand requirements, develop tailored technical solutions, and oversee project delivery from concept through to completion.

The role also involves site visits, technical documentation, engineering calculations, and ensuring all designs comply with relevant Australian and New Zealand standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with clients to define technical and project requirements
• Conduct technical feasibility studies and engineering analysis
• Develop solar PV system designs, plans, and specifications
• Produce detailed reports, calculations, and technical documentation
• Create 3D models and CAD drawings for project delivery
• Use industry software for simulation and system design (e.g. PVSyst, Homer, SketchUp, Revit)
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards
• Identify design errors and provide corrective engineering solutions
• Manage multiple projects and ensure deadlines are met
• Conduct site visits where required
• Maintain project documentation and progress reporting

About You

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Systems, ideally CPEng 
• Strong background in solar PV design and engineering
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
• Proficient in relevant design and simulation software
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects
