Stores Person - Freighter

The Stores position plays a vital role in supporting the operational efficiency of the production team by managing the flow of parts and inventory. This position involves close collaboration with production staff, suppliers, supply chain links and customers to ensure timely and accurate handling of parts orders, inventory control, and warehouse organization. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.


Key Responsibilities

Need to be able to run and manage the warehouse in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor

Customer Order Fulfilment

  • Pick and pack parts orders for external customers with accuracy and care.

  • Ensure timely dispatch of available parts to fulfil customer back orders.

  • Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding order status.

Inwards Goods & Inventory Handling

  • Receive, unpack, and check incoming goods against supplier documentation.

  • Place inventory items on shelves in an organized and logical manner.

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-ordered warehouse environment.

Inventory Control & Stock Management

  • Assist with regular and ad-hoc stocktakes under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor.

  • Prepare supplier order drafts for review and approval by the Warehouse Supervisor.

  • Support inventory control processes, including cycle counts and discrepancy investigations.

 General Warehouse Support

  • Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor on warehouse layout, stock optimization, and process improvements.

  • Perform other warehouse and supply-related tasks as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.

 


Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or inventory control role (preferably in a Manufacturing environment).

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and order processing.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with Production staff and suppliers.

  • Basic understanding of parts identification and inventory systems.

  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.

  • Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferable to have MRP experience

  • A proactive, organized, and customer-focused approach to work.

The ideal candidate will also hold:

  • a clean, valid Class 1 driver’s licence

  • a current, valid fork hoist licence

Reporting Line

  • Reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor.

 Work Environment / Health & Safety

  • Based in the warehouse, but also work with stock in the yard and unloading of containers.

  • Role will require reaching, lifting, standing, and movement throughout the day.

Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to and supporting the ongoing Health & Safety initiatives.
