Our Department is internationally recognised for its scholarly contributions in the fields of Corporate Finance, Investments, Derivatives and Quantitative Finance, Financial Econometrics, Capital Markets, Governance, Institutions and Regulation, and in emerging areas such as Sustainable Finance through our Climate and Energy Finance Group (CEFGroup). Current faculty have published in leading journals, including Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and Energy Economics. This research is supported by extensive data infrastructure, including access to WRDS, Audit Analytics, Bloomberg, Morningstar, Sustainalytics, BoardEx, Capital IQ, CRSP/Compustat, LSEG (Datastream/Refinitiv), and OptionMetrics).
The Department values excellence in both teaching and research and provides a supportive environment for staff to achieve both. This includes manageable teaching loads that allow dedicated time for research, alongside strong access to data resources and a collaborative research culture.
The Role | Te mahi
We are seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Finance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our existing teaching and research strengths in Financial Econometrics.
The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the Department and will supervise postgraduate research students. Candidates will also be expected to develop and sustain an independent and productive research programme.

The successful candidate will have:
A PhD in Finance or closely related discipline.
A comprehensive research agenda aimed at internationally rated finance/economics/business journals.
A strong commitment to obtaining external research funding.
Demonstrated quality and commitment to teaching finance and related topics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Experience and commitment to engaging with industry to enhance student learning.
Commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa and traditions as guided by Ngāi Tahu, as mana whenua in the region and broad knowledge of the cultural traditions of other iwi/hapū.
Candidates with expertise in Financial Econometrics, are especially sought.

This is a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE) position based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
The appointment range for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer is $97,377 to $137,444 per annum.
