About the role and who we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time Bar Assistant to work at our site in Ohakea, working a minimum of 22 hours per week. This is a fixed-term role for a period of two and a half months.

RNZAF Ohakea is located within the Manawatu district, 26 km west of Palmerston North and 48km from Whanganui and 24 km from Marton and Feilding. With some of the best fly fishing, hunting, great walks, skiing and mountain bike trails in the country within easy reach of your doorstep it's an outdoor enthusiast's dream. This busy diverse Airforce Base is the Hub of the air wing in New Zealand and offers a unique chance and insight into the military world of Officer and senior/junior ranks training.

Come work in one of NZ's top outdoor regions Manawatu / Ruapehu - Home to Tongariro National Park and Whanganui National Park and two New Zealand Great Walks, Fishing beaches, there's plenty to see and do in in this area all year-round.

 You will be responsible for: 

  • providing responsible service of alcohol
  • professional customer service
  • responding to customers' requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • cash and eftpos handling.
  • assist with the operation of the bar, preparing for service, taking orders, preparing outstanding drinks, taking meal orders and serving customers
  • assist with stocktaking on a regular basis, replenishing supplies and maintaining the bar area clean and tidy.

What we are looking for:

If you're our ideal candidate you will be hard working, with a friendly outgoing personality and a 'can do' attitude. You will have at least a years' experience working in a similar role, be articulate and highly organised, and able to juggle multiple demands. Ideally you will hold food safety certificates (Unit Standard 167 and 168), or be happy to train for one. Bar experience would be an advantage but, most importantly, you will demonstrate a passion for great food, customer service and quality!

Please note a full unrestricted drivers license is required for the role.
