We have multiple opportunities for permanent Customer Compliance Specialist Level 2 (previously known as Investigators) roles across our business in Auckland (Takapuna and Manukau), Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Invercargill, New Plymouth, Tauranga, and Wellington.

The opportunity - Ara Whiwhi Mahi

The Customer Compliance Specialist L2 (Investigator) role is instrumental in providing investigative and specialist support to improve customer compliance, and champion IR’s customer-centric and intelligence-led culture.

In this varied role you will:

  • Investigate and audit financial records and transactions to confirm what happened and why
  • Spot compliance and integrity risks, assess what they mean, and take action to reduce risk and get the right outcome
  • Review customer records and insights to find issues, confirm evidence, and resolve disputes and compliance matters
  • Use intelligence and other information to understand the customer’s situation, ask the right questions, and negotiate when appropriate to resolve disputes or compliance concerns
  • Contact customers early and respond when issues arise, to get the facts and improve outcomes
  • Explain tax and social policy rules in plain language and give practical advice so customers can comply
  • Build and manage clear case files and work with internal networks (including legal) when enforcement (including prosecution) action is needed to support long-term compliance
  • Act as a technical role model and mentor to develop others
  • Work closely with others across IR, share what you learn from investigations, and help develop solutions for customers

The hours of work are 75 hours 50 minutes per fortnight to be worked between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and the salary range is between $94,057 and $116,079.
