Contract Opportunity – Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Mediators

Fair Way is expanding its pool of Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Mediators and is seeking experienced professionals across Aotearoa who are passionate about supporting whānau to reach child-focused parenting agreements.

As an FDR Mediator, you will facilitate mediation between parties to help them reach sustainable care arrangements that are in the best interests of their children. You will guide discussions in a neutral and safe way, without making decisions on behalf of the parties. This is contracted, as-needed work, ideal for practitioners who value flexibility and meaningful engagement with families.

We are looking for people who:

• Are approved FDR Providers under an authorised ADRO (AMINZ, Resolution Institute, NZ Law Society, or MĀADRO) and hold a current accreditation certificate

• Have strong experience in mediation and a commitment to child-centred practice

• Can confidently manage sensitive situations and assess risk throughout the mediation process

• Communicate effectively with parties and maintain neutrality at all times

• Work independently while following structured processes and guidelines

• Are comfortable managing documentation and case management system

Key aspects of the role:

• Facilitating individual and joint mediation sessions (in person and/or online)

• Ensuring all parties have agreed to mediation prior to commencement

• Supporting safe participation, including use of separate rooms where required

• Ensuring children are given a reasonable opportunity to have their views considered (where appropriate)

• Completing FDR outcome or exemption forms and issuing these to parties

• Recording and finalising mediation outcomes on our case management system
