About the Role
The Senior Technical Leads play a key role in guiding day-to-day technical decisions across digital operations, projects, and programmes, ensuring solutions align with approved architectural standards and organisational goals. This role provides technical leadership and expertise to support reliable operational delivery while helping design scalable, future-focused solutions that meet evolving business needs. Working closely with delivery teams, architecture specialists, and external vendors, the Senior Technical Lead ensures technology decisions are efficient, effective, and fit for purpose. The role also champions continuous improvement, encourages innovation, and promotes collaborative ways of working to deliver high-quality, secure, and sustainable digital services.
About the Team/Service/ Location
You'll be joining a collaborative and nationally connected Digital Operations team committed to delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality digital services that support healthcare delivery across Aotearoa New Zealand. The team works closely with internal digital specialists, senior leaders, and external technology partners to ensure systems and services operate effectively and continue to evolve with the needs of the organisation. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, the team embraces new ways of working to simplify processes, enhance service delivery, and support better outcomes for patients, whānau, and communities.
About you
You are an experienced ICT professional with a strong background in technical leadership and managing complex technology environments. You bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach and thrive in environments where collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are valued. With a solid foundation in operational support and system optimisation, you are confident guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring services remain stable, secure, and aligned with organisational standards. You are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and contributing positively to team culture while supporting the organisation's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Extensive ICT experience, including at least 7+ years working across complex IT environments with strong technical support and operational delivery expertise. A specific expert level ability and understanding of Core Infrastructure Services OR Identity Services which underpin enterprise ICT environments is required for this role -see below for examples of specific domain expertise required for the roles:
- Core Infrastructure: DNS, DHCP, PKI, Secrets Management, Active Directory, Powershell, Azure Arc, Security Posture Management, Infrastructure as Code (IAC)
- Identity: Sailpoint platform experience (highly desired), EntraID/SSO/MFA, JIT, Privileged Identity and Access Management (PIM/PAM), Secrets Management, Identity Governance and Administration (IGA))
- Proven technical leadership, with experience providing guidance, mentoring engineers, and supporting teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
- Experience improving and optimising IT environments, driving technical initiatives, service improvements, and best-practice standards.
- Relevant technical certifications, with service management and ITIL certifications considered an advantage.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, senior leaders, vendors, and external partners while upholding organisational values and commitments.
