Contracts Manager
HEB Construction is a dynamic and innovative leader in the construction of New Zealand's Infrastructure. We are involved with a variety of projects from road construction and maintenance through to earthworks, drainage, marine works, and major projects of national significance.
We’re looking for an experienced Contracts Manager who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys partnering with project teams, clients, and senior leaders to deliver exceptional outcomes. The Contracts Manager will play a key role in supporting the operational and financial performance of construction projects. You’ll lead contract management activities, guide project teams, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure quality and compliance throughout all stages of delivery.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing pre‑ and post‑award contract implementation to ensure clarity, compliance, and effective delivery
- Providing commercial and operational support to enhance overall project performance
- Building long‑term client partnerships and identifying future business opportunities
- Acting as the primary contact for customers on all contractual matters
- Offering technical contract management support to internal teams
- Ensuring proposals and project delivery focus on risk mitigation, change management, and timely issue resolution
- Leading and guiding project teams on contract and financial matters
- Maintaining strong client relationships and high levels of customer satisfaction
- Contributing to the development and improvement of business systems and quality processes
- Supporting technical issue resolution and operational decision‑making across the region
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary‑level engineering qualification or relevant equivalent experience
- Experience in operations and infrastructure management roles
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Proven ability to deliver business outcomes at a strategic level
- Demonstrated experience leading large and diverse teams, building a culture of trust and accountability
- A customer‑driven approach
These are desirable but not essential:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Chartered Membership of Engineering NZ
- More than 10 years’ experience in Civil Engineering with a heavy structures focus
