General Practitioner - Waihi Family Doctors
Flexible | Relocation support | Sustainable workload
Join a well-supported, Cornerstone-accredited practice where acute care is shared, workloads are sustainable, and clinician wellbeing is prioritised.
Our practice
We’re a family-owned practice in Waihi caring for around 4,000 enrolled patients across four doctors. We’re looking for a GP who values thoughtful medicine, strong collegial relationships, and a role that’s sustainable long term.
We run a daily acute clinic led by an experienced ECP, so urgent presentations are managed collaboratively rather than added to full patient lists. We also provide care to two local rest homes.
Our clinicians practice rural medicine without rural isolation. Waihi benefits from strong local services including St John, Hospice, counselling and social support, two pharmacies, and GP Bed options as hospital alternatives.
We welcome applications from:
• Vocationally registered or GPEP 2–3
• NZ‑trained general registration with experience in general practice
• IMG’s from comparable health systems, minimum 12 month locum (supervision supported) We have previously hosted locums from Canada, France, Spain and the U.S.
We offer:
6-8 sessions per week (negotiable)
Competitive remuneration
APC paid annually
Relocation support, including short-term accommodation if required
Supportive team environment with shared acute workload
A role that fits around a real life — not the other way around
Waihi is a bustling township that’s 10 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to the bush, and has easy access to Tauranga, Auckland and Hamilton.
If you’re looking to practice high-quality medicine in a supportive, sustainable environment, we’d love to hear from you. ‘Apply Now’ to submit your application, or contact Nadiya on [email protected] for further information.
