Teacher Aide/Kaiāwhina/Learning Assistant

Sunnyvale Primary School in Henderson is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team. As a part-time position, you will provide essential support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them to reach their full potential. This dynamic role will see you working closely with teachers to deliver tailored assistance within a vibrant and inclusive school environment in Henderson, Auckland.

What you'll be doing

  • Working 3-5 hours a day,

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, physical disabilities or learning difficulties

  • Assisting with the implementation of individualised education plans and behaviour support strategies

  • Helping students with daily living skills, mobility and personal care as required

  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt learning materials and activities to suit students' needs

  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff

  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience working as a teacher's aide or learning support assistant, preferably in a school setting

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers and families

  • Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education or a related field would be highly regarded

  • Someone who demonstrates a genuine passion for Te Reo Māori
