Handyperson / Maintenance Caretaker
This is a stable Monday-Friday role in a supportive school environment - ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, routine, and being part of a community.
About the Role
Based on-site at Rolleston College, you'll work 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 7:00am and 6:00pm.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and presentation of the school's facilities.
Your work directly supports a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors - and you'll see the impact of what you do every day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Completing general maintenance tasks and work requests
- Carrying out minor repairs, cleaning, and upkeep duties
- Performing regular site inspections
- Working alongside contractors and school staff
- Updating jobs and reports using simple computer systems
About You
You'll likely enjoy this role if you:
- Like physical, hands-on work and staying active
- Have maintenance, trade, or handyman experience (highly regarded)
- Are reliable, practical, and take pride in your work
- Communicate well and work comfortably within a team
- Are comfortable working in a school environment
Because this role is based within a school, the successful applicant must:
- Pass police vetting, Ministry of Justice checks, and drug & alcohol screening
- Hold a full, clean NZ Driver's Licence
- Have the legal right to work in New Zealand
