The Monte Cecilia Housing Trust is an Auckland based for purpose NGO providing community housing and wraparound social services to support the vulnerable.
In 1989, the Monte Cecilia Housing Trust was established in collaboration with the Sisters of Mercy, the Marist Brothers, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, and the Catholic Diocese of Auckland. Services have now expanded to the growing need of Families for housing assistance throughout the Auckland Region. MCHT is committed to working towards where Aotearoa New Zealand where every person has a place to call home.
As Monte Cecilia continues to grow its services and deepen its effectiveness, they are seeking an exceptional Head of Business to lead its business services, communications, data, and stakeholder engagement functions. This is a pivotal senior leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a purpose‑led environment and brings both strategic capability and operational excellence.
About the Role
As the Head of Business, you will oversee a diverse portfolio that keeps Monte Cecilia running smoothly and positioned for long‑term success. You’ll lead a high‑performing team responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
You’ll bring a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and people‑centred leadership, ideally gained in the housing, charity, or not‑for‑profit sector, and an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and Pacific cultures.
Core to your success in this role you will bring a degree in business, management, finance, economics, or information systems, accompanied by 10+ years’ experience in a senior business services or COO‑level role.
You will be able to demonstrate strong experience managing data, information systems, and complex reporting, accompanied by Proven capability in communications, marketing, and social media oversight. Your excellent relationship‑building skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Finally, all delivered by a collaborative, strengths‑based leadership style, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Business services, ICT, office management, and front‑of‑house operations
- Data, digital systems, reporting, and software integration
- Marketing, brand development, communications, and social media
- Fundraising, donor engagement, and stakeholder relationships
- Strategic project management and organisational improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Business Services team, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture
- Ensure ICT systems, data management, and reporting processes are secure, efficient, and fit for purpose
- Oversee Monte Cecilia’s online presence, brand, communications, and media engagement
- Drive fundraising strategy, donor stewardship, and stakeholder engagement
- Manage strategic projects to improve organisational capability and impact
- Contribute actively to the Senior Leadership Team and model Monte Cecilia’s values in all interactions
