Experienced Tractor Driver/Fencer/General

Join Our Team – Experienced Tractor Driver/Fencer/General

We’re looking for an Experienced Tractor Driver/Fencer/General to join our team at Flagstaff Station. The primary focus of the role is tractor work and fencing, with some general farm work as required.

Flagstaff Station Holdings is a progressive farming business established in 2023, farming 3,500ha across two diverse properties in Northern Southland. We run 28,000 stock units of sheep, beef, deer, and cereal cropping, with operations split between our high-country farm Flagstaff Station in Athol, and Tower Ridge, an intensive finishing block near Balfour.

You’ll be working with modern, well-maintained equipment that includes GPS and auto-steer technology. This is a great opportunity for an experienced person who is passionate about machinery, organised and confident in their skills, and keen to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team.

Key duties include:

  • Tractor driving across the business as part of our cropping, pasture and arable farm operations on both hill and flat country, including ploughing, cultivation, drilling, making hay/baleage, harvest, spreading, spraying and feeding out etc

  • Basic machinery upkeep and maintenance.

  • Building, repairing and upgrading fencing.

  • General farm maintenance.

  • Assisting with other seasonal farm work when needed.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Are an experienced and competent tractor and (ideally) digger driver.

  • Can build, repair and upgrade fencing to a high standard.

  • Are able to work unsupervised and manage your time effectively.

  • Have experience with cattle, sheep and/or deer stock work.

  • Have hands-on skills in maintenance of water systems, and general farm maintenance.

  • Show commitment to regular maintenance and tidiness in your workplace.

  • You are a team player and a clear communicator and are happy working both independently and with others.

  • Are fit, enthusiastic, and willing to keep learning and growing.

What we offer:

  • A competitive salary package based on your experience and skills.

  • 4 bedroom recently renovated warm, on-farm accommodation (if required).

  • Modern and well-maintained equipment and facilities.

  • Ongoing training, upskilling, and career progression opportunities.

  • A supportive team and variety in your work across multiple blocks.

  • A focus on health, safety, and animal welfare.

  • Flagstaff Station is located 3km from Athol township, a quiet, scenic farming community in Northern Southland. A stunning location with access to renowned hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation, as well as having some great local coffee and food options. Athol is 20 minutes to Lumsden, under 60 minutes to Queenstown and Gore, and Invercargill and Te Anau are both within 90 minutes, with local school bus routes nearby.
