Manager Deposits - Transactional Banking

Manager Deposits - Transactional Banking

Full-time, Permanent Role

Based in Britomart, Auckland

At Westpac New Zealand, our purpose is to help New Zealanders thrive. Within Institutional and Business Banking (IBB), Transactional Banking plays a critical role in supporting how we fund our balance sheet and deliver strong outcomes for our institutional and business customers. As our focus on deposits continues to grow, we are investing in new capability to support this ambition.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As Manager, Deposits – Transactional Banking, you will play a key role in building and embedding a new deposits capability across IBB. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the target state for systems, processes and ways of working, while partnering closely with Treasury and frontline teams to support customer and balance sheet outcomes.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transactional Banking, this role blends analytics, stakeholder engagement, communication and influence, and will suit someone who enjoys working across ambiguity and contributing to enterprise‑wide change. You will act as a central point of expertise for all deposit‑related matters within Transactional Banking, providing information, reporting and insights to key stakeholders to demonstrate performance against customer expectations and service levels. You will support growth and origination activity by partnering on pitches and new‑to‑bank opportunities, and over time may directly support deposit discussions with customers as the strategy evolves.

You will work closely with Treasury to manage escalations and delegated authority matters, including supporting regulatory understanding and changes impacting deposits. A key part of your role will be designing and delivering training to distribution teams to build capability and confidence across IBB.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

You bring strong experience within banking or financial services, ideally in an institutional or business banking environment, with a sound understanding of deposits, balance sheet dynamics and operating models. You are comfortable working with data and reporting, enjoy analysing and improving processes, and can see how changes impact customers, people and the broader organisation.

You are a confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority, navigate ambiguity, and prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Experience leading through change, partnering across teams, and working autonomously with high levels of accountability will be key to success in this role.
