Evonik Peroxide Ltd is part of Evonik Industries AG, an international specialty chemicals company with manufacturing and distribution units worldwide.

Our unique New Zealand site based in Morrinsville is the only facility in NZ manufacturing Hydrogen Peroxide, supplying products to local and export customers such as pulp and paper, mining, wool scouring, food and beverage, among others.

We are seeking a Chemical Process Technician to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on role in a Major Hazard Facility, requiring dedication, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety. 

Job Description

This role involves operating a complex chemical production plant on a 24/7 shift basis (4 days on, 4 days off, 12-hour shifts). Responsibilities include: 

  • Safely running the production process in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Covering additional shifts and assisting with breakdowns when necessary. 
  • Participating in rotational business management tasks during non-shift periods (e.g., engineering, safety, production, and project management). 
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, legislative, and regulatory requirements. 
Qualifications

We invite candidates with the following attributes and qualifications to apply: 

  • Operations or technical experience in a process industry 
  • Tertiary qualifications or trade certificates in Operations, Chemistry, Engineering, Instrumentation, or Electrical fields. 
  • Familiarity with SAP or MS databases, project management, analytical/quality systems (e.g., ISO9002), and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Experience with Permit-to-Work systems or Safety Management is an advantage, but a commitment to high safety standards is essential. 
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift equipment as part of daily tasks. 
  • Strong communication skills, accountability, reliability, and a positive attitude. 
  • Sound knowledge of computer systems and the ability to self-start.
