Plastic Injection Moulding Night Shift Supervisor
Medical Plastics Limited is a family owned and run, Plastic Injection Moulding company with a proud 50+ year history, based in East Tamaki. We operate 24 hours, 5 days a week across three shifts. The company supports the contract moulding requirements of a wide range of industries including medical devices, animal health, industrial, electrical and consumer goods.
The resignation of our night shift supervisor/team leader means there is an opportunity for someone experienced in the plastics industry to join our team.
We are interested in candidates who have the right to live and work in New Zealand, and who have prior experience in Plastic Injection Moulding, or die setting.
The role involves supervising our 11pm-7am shift. The small team consists of the team leader, and a small group of Machine Operators who are trained in packing moulded products. The supervisor is responsible for keeping the machine hoppers full, completing hourly QC paperwork, responding to moulding faults, keeping the factory clean and tidy and passing on relevant information at shift handover. The team leader is also expected to help with the packing as needed. This is a caretaker role, keeping the factory running overnight. All die changes take place on our morning shift, so the machines are set and ready to run by the overnight shift.
The successful candidate will report to our Technical Manager, and our Production Supervisor to pass on relevant technical information from the night.
Initial training will take place on the morning shift from 7am-3pm, before beginning on the night shift. The shift is a permanent, 40-hour week from 11pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, with the last shift finishing 7am on Saturday morning. The successful applicant will be responsible for shutting the plant down ahead of the weekend.
Medical Plastics can offer the successful candidate a competitive salary and a positive team environment. This role is an opportunity to play an important part in a New Zealand company that values their staff. Overtime may be available (weekend work) from time to time depending on workload.
The ideal candidate will have a trade certificate qualification or similar, in injection moulding.
If you have experience in injection moulding and are looking for a new opportunity in 2026, we would love to hear from you.
