The Personal Advocacy and Safeguarding Adults Trust (PASAT) is a registered charitable trust established in 1967. We work with and alongside adults with care and support needs to support their expression of will and preference and decision making, protect their wellbeing and rights, and safeguard against abuse or neglect.
About the Role
PASAT is now looking for a person to work part-time as an Advocate and Independent Supporter for Decision Making. The successful candidate would work across multple PASAT service streams, including:
as an Advocate responding to short term advocacy referrals to resolve a specific issue or concern.
providing Independent Support for Decision Making, supporting the expression of will and preference, developing skills and experience in decision making, and in building additional natural supporters to work alongside an individual
being part of a multi-agency team that is responding to a situation of concern where the adult at risk requires advocacy and support for decision making as a safeguard
supporting disabled survivors of abuse in state care with sharing their stories, accessing support records, and recieving wellbeing support.
The caseload is distributed across the Greater Auckland region with a focus on South Auckland and surrounding areas. We will consider applicants from anywhere in the Auckland region. We are a paperless organisation and all staff are equipped with a laptop and mobile phone to allow them to remotely access our systems for communication and reporting.
This is a full time position at 40 hours per week. The successful candidate would manage their own work schedule. This role is offered as an 18-month fixed term position. This position is a combination of remotely working from home alongside working out in the community.

We are seeking applicants:
preferably with a background in advocacy, social work, or working with people with an intellectual disability
able to travel to, and meet with adults with care and support needs (and key people in their lives) using your own vehicle
with a full NZ driver’s licence, clean Police record and legal entitlement to work in NZ, are essential.
On appointment you will become part of an established team of Advocates, Safeguarding Coordinators and supporters for decision making spread across New Zealand guided by our National Office. You must be able to work collaboratively and independently, to undertake training, and be highly organised, in what is both challenging and highly rewarding work.
