About Us

We’re committed to celebrating and supporting older people. Guided by our vision: older people live a life of their choosing, we deliver services that promote health, safety, independence, and connection—while working to reduce social isolation, vulnerability, and elder abuse.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do: Welcoming, Inclusive, Compassionate, Fair, and Accountable.

About the Role

Based in Hamilton, as General Manager, you will report to the Board, and

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality, responsive services for older people

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, funders, and community partners

  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement across services

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

  • Ensure the long-term sustainability and financial health of the organisation

  • Uphold strong governance, compliance, and accountability frameworks

  • Lead ACW’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, strengthening partnerships with Māori and embedding cultural confidence across the organisation

About You

An experienced leader who combines strategic and operational thinking, with commercial acumen, and empathy, you thrive in a community-focused environment and are motivated by making a real difference.

You will bring:

  • Proven senior leadership and management experience

  • Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting and reporting

  • Experience working with Boards and an understanding of the difference between governance and management

  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills

  • A track-record in securing funding and developing partnerships

  • A commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

  • Understanding of, or passion for, the issues affecting older people

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (desirable)
