About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Channel Manager to own and grow builder and merchant relationships across the South Island and Lower North Island - this role requires extensive travel

This is a key commercial role for someone who excels in the builder and merchant channel, loves being on the road, and enjoys building deep relationships across branches, regions, and key builders.

You’ll work closely with the North Island Channel Manager and Specification team to ensure specified projects are protected and handed over smoothly, and you’ll act as a strategic partner to merchants rather than a transactional supplier.

Day in the life:

  • Manage and grow key merchant accounts across the South Island and Lower North Island.

  • Build strong, trusted relationships at branch and regional levels.

  • Support National Accounts alongside the North Island Channel Manager.

  • Provide on‑site product training and technical support for merchants and builders.

  • Partner with the Specification team to protect and convert specified projects.

  • Achieve regional merchant sales targets and deliver year‑on‑year growth.

  • Strengthen builder advocacy and confidence in ABODO’s products.

  • Maintain pricing integrity, margin discipline, and fair commercial outcomes.

  • Keep CRM activity, pipeline, and opportunities accurate and up‑to‑date.

  • Provide market intelligence, competitor insights, and timely reporting.

  • Maintain a qualified pipeline with strong forecasting accuracy.

 What You’ll Bring:

  • 10+ years in merchant channel account management or B2B building materials sales.

  • Experience managing major merchant brands across a territory or region.

  • Proven success growing accounts and converting opportunities in a competitive market.

  • Experience working with specification teams or dual‑owning key accounts.

  • Strong communication, relationship building, and follow‑through.

  • A disciplined, CRM‑first approach to managing pipeline and information.

  • Ability to travel regularly and manage a structured call cycle.
