About the role
The Education Administrator provides high‑quality, timely administrative support to enable the effective delivery of the Nursing Council’s education and assessment functions. Working within the Education Team, this role supports a range of regulated processes that underpin nursing education standards and public safety in Aotearoa.
The role is responsible for coordinating education‑related enquiries and communications, including managing the Education inbox and phone enquiries, ensuring stakeholders receive clear, accurate and timely information. It also supports the end‑to‑end coordination of meetings, hui and workshops, including logistics, materials, virtual meeting set‑up and post‑meeting follow‑up.
A significant focus of the role is providing administrative support for education accreditation, monitoring and assessment processes. This includes supporting State Final Examinations and Internationally Qualified Nurse assessment processes, coordinating documentation and records, liaising with invigilators and external providers, and administering Ministry of Justice criminal record and convictions‑related processes. The role also provides secretariat‑style support to the Registrant Quality Committee, including agenda preparation, meeting papers, action tracking and post‑meeting communications.
The Education Administrator manages a range of operational tasks such as processing claims and invoices, arranging travel and accommodation in line with policy, maintaining accurate records and contributing to education‑related reporting. The role also supports the drafting of education‑related decisions and determinations for review by senior advisors and leaders.
This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong organisation, attention to detail and sound judgement. The Education Administrator contributes positively to a respectful, values‑driven team culture and supports the Council’s commitment to giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe regulatory practice.
About you
You are an organised and reliable administrator who enjoys working in a structured, process‑driven environment. You bring experience supporting education, regulatory or compliance‑based functions and are comfortable working with detailed information, deadlines and formal decision‑making processes.
You communicate clearly and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders and are confident coordinating meetings, preparing documentation and supporting committees or assessment processes. You take pride in accuracy and confidentiality, and are diligent in maintaining records, data and documentation to a high standard.
You are confident using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, and are able to quickly learn new systems and processes. You manage competing priorities effectively, remain calm under pressure, and contribute constructively to team goals and continuous improvement.
Importantly, you are committed to working in line with the Council’s values and to developing your cultural capability. You understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in regulatory practice and bring a respectful, thoughtful approach to supporting equitable and culturally safe outcomes. You are a positive team member who enjoys collaborating, sharing knowledge and contributing to a supportive and professional workplace.
