About the role


Please note: This role in based in Tasmania

Base salary from $134,570 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with preferred candidate based on skills and experience


We're looking for an experienced Senior Protection & Control Technical Officer to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and improving the systems that keep Tasmania's power network safe and reliable.

This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to a seasoned Protection & Control professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working on critical infrastructure and supporting safe, high-quality delivery across the network.

You'll work across transmission and distribution assets, supporting maintenance, commissioning and fault response, while providing technical leadership and guidance to the wider team.


What you'll do

  • Maintain and support protection, control and SCADA systems across the network

  • Lead and support commissioning, testing and fault response activities

  • Analyse faults and provide technical input to improve network performance and reliability

  • Coordinate outages and support emergency response when required

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with standards and procedures

  • Provide technical guidance and mentor team members

  • Contribute to asset strategies and continuous improvement initiatives


About you


You're a technically strong and safety-focused professional with extensive experience in Protection & Control within transmission and/or distribution networks.


You will bring:

  • Engineering qualification or equivalent extensive industry experience

  • Strong knowledge of protection, control and SCADA systems, including numerical relays

  • Experience in testing, commissioning and maintenance environments

  • Ability to analyse faults and solve complex technical problems

  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to support and mentor others

  • A proactive approach to safety, risk management and continuous improvement

  • Current Driver's Licence and ability to obtain Person in Charge

  • Electrical Practitioner's Licence (highly desirable)
