We are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Service Technician to join our Rotorua team. This hands on role covers the manufacture, servicing, repair, and fault diagnosis of hydraulic and mechanical systems, both onsite at customer locations and in our workshop. You will deliver high quality technical solutions while maintaining strong safety and customer service standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair hydraulic and mechanical systems and components
  • Repair, assemble, test, and commission hydraulic equipment
  • Fault‑find hydraulic systems with or without schematics
  • Read and interpret hydraulic and engineering drawings (open and closed loop)
  • Manufacture and install hydraulic hoses, pipes, and tubing with correct sizing/flow compatibility
  • Test valves, cylinders, pumps, and motors using appropriate test equipment
  • Safely operate and service accumulators and hydraulic test rigs
  • Complete job cards, timesheets, and service documentation accurately
  • Liaise professionally with customers and support planned maintenance/condition monitoring
  • Work in line with company procedures, quality standards, and health & safety requirements

Skills and experience (minimum requirements)

  • Proven experience as a Hydraulic Service Technician, Mechanical Fitter, or similar trade
  • Strong knowledge of major‑brand hydraulic components and system troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Relevant trade qualification or a minimum of three years’ demonstrable, relevant industry experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving, and customer communication
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Information

  • Applicants must be currently based in New Zealand and legally entitled to work in New Zealand
