Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
At NZ Post, our enterprise platforms sit at the heart of how we move, track, connect and deliver. This leadership role is accountable for the stability, performance and modernisation of those platforms and the business applications that depend on them.
Reporting to the Head of Technology Platform Modernisation, you'll lead a capable team of Application Support Analysts and Systems Engineers who keep critical systems secure, reliable and evolving. You'll balance operational excellence with forward looking platform strategy, helping the business stay stable today while getting ready for tomorrow.
You'll do that by:
- Leading and developing a multidisciplinary technical team, building a high trust and high performance culture
- Owning the operation, lifecycle and modernisation of enterprise platforms and core business applications
- Driving platform roadmaps covering cloud adoption, upgrades, integration improvements and rationalisation
- Ensuring strong service delivery across incidents, problems and requests with clear SLAs and metrics
- Partnering with Architecture, Cyber, Infrastructure and business owners on priorities and governance
- Managing vendor performance and optimise significant external technology spend
Mōu - About you
You're a people first technology leader who knows how to run complex platforms without losing sight of the humans behind them. You're comfortable in operational detail, but equally motivated by shaping strategy, modernisation and smarter ways of working.
You've led teams in large, complex environments where applications and integrations resemble spaghetti junctions. You bring pragmatism, political savvy and the credibility to influence ownership conversations and get momentum where lines are blurry.
You'll combine that with:
- Proven experience leading enterprise platforms, applications or technology operations teams
- Strong people leadership with a track record of coaching and building capable technical teams
- Experience modernising platforms across cloud, lifecycle management and integration ecosystems
- Confidence working across vendors, stakeholders and governance forums
- Solid grounding in ITIL, service management and operational governance
- Commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets and optimising spend
An added bonus would be experience in:
- Cloud platform exposure such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
- Integration and middleware familiarity such as MuleSoft, event streaming and identity platforms
