Assistant Accountant

We own and run over 40 conferences each year as well as training courses for New Zealand business audiences. We have a dedicated team of 20 who work together well and love doing what we do. We have been creating business events for 28 years and are proudly New Zealand owned.
We are seeking a highly organised, detail focused Assistant Accountant to join our team on a fixed term, part time basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accuracy, structured accounting processes, and a flexible work arrangement.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and Accountant, you will support core accounting operations and help ensure the smooth running of our finance function. The role combines routine daily tasks with varied support across month end and reporting activities.
Working 15 hours per week (with flexibility to increase hours on occasion) you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely accounts administration. Availability on a Monday is key.
Key Responsibilities
Daily banking and credit card reconciliations (MYOB)
Invoicing selected contracts through the CRM
Monitoring outstanding debtors and managing weekly credit control
Issuing credit notes and following up overdue payments
Accurate entry and coding of Accounts Payable invoices
Weekly reporting and assistance with payment runs
Supporting month end processes, including accruals and budget washups
Maintaining well organised electronic and physical accounting records
About You
You will be well suited to this role if you have:
A strong understanding of bookkeeping principles
Experience using MYOB AccountRight or similar
Intermediate Excel skills
Experience working with a CRM system (advantageous)
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
Confidence communicating with both internal and external stakeholders
A flexible, adaptable approach and a positive, team focused attitude
