We are looking for a part-time receptionist to join our after-hours emergency team. This could suit someone studying veterinary nursing, considering a future in the industry, or someone returning to the workforce and looking for rewarding part-time work.

About Us

Manukau After Hours Veterinary Clinic provides emergency and after-hours care to pets and their families when they need it most. Our team is compassionate, professional, and proud of the care we deliver during evenings, weekends and public holidays.

About the Role

This is a part-time receptionist position based at our Manukau clinic. As an after-hours service, availability outside standard business hours is essential. That means working weekends, weekday evenings and public holidays.

The role requires working 2pm - 10pm Saturday, 10am – 10pm Sunday and one weekday evening shift of 6pm – 10pm. There is potential to job share this role by alternating weekends, but the ideal candidate must be available to work both weekend days.

If you are seeking weekday daytime hours only, this role will not be the right fit.


What you’ll be doing

  • Answering phones promptly and professionally

  • Welcoming clients and supporting them during stressful times

  • Working alongside vets and nurses to provide outstanding care for our clients and their pets

  • Processing payments and product sales

  • Managing paperwork, filing, and general administration

  • Providing flexible support to the team where needed


What We’re Looking For

  • Enrolled in (or planning to enroll in) a veterinary nursing certificate or diploma

  • Friendly, relatable, and professional under pressure

  • Strong communication skills with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to stay calm and compassionate with distressed or grieving clients

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently

  • Previous reception or front-line customer service experience (vet clinic experience a bonus!)
