Health & Safety Coordinator / Technical Writer
You’ll act as the technical conduit between Project Admin and senior consultants, ensuring H&S content is accurate, clear, and flows correctly through deliverables while handling accurate documentation, report drafting, and system refinements — helping reduce senior workload while building your skills toward consultancy.
What you’ll be doing
Drafting and refining sections of client reports, procedures, policies, and health and safety management system documents under supervision
Supporting the development and improvement of client H&S templates and systems (e.g., updating formats, incorporating feedback, ensuring technical accuracy and plain English)
Coordinating the technical aspects of audit, assessment, and project deliverables (e.g., compiling findings, writing summaries, preparing for senior review)
Progressing toward site-based support as part of role development (e.g., shadowing visits, documenting observations, contributing to basic risk and compliance advice)
What we’re looking for
2–5 years’ relevant experience in health and safety coordination, systems support, technical writing/editing, or advisory roles
Strong technical writing and editing skills — focus on clarity, accuracy, plain English, and attention to detail in H&S documents
Proactive mindset with the ability to ask smart questions and clarify requirements independently
Genuine interest and drive to grow into client-facing advisory and consulting work
Comfortable and confident engaging with mid-to-senior managers, C-suite, and business owners — without arrogance
Detail-oriented with high standards for quality and accountable delivery
Practical, solutions-focused approach that values simplicity and real-world application
Team-oriented collaborator who thrives on collective input and shared ownership
NZ Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 3) minimum or working towards it; NEBOSH desirable
Experience or understanding of structured management system frameworks (e.g. ISO 45001:2018) is advantageous
Full, clean NZ driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle (travel expenses reimbursed in line with policy)
Disciplined and self-managing — comfortable with home-based work when client needs allow
What we offer
Competitive salary based on experience
Annual birthday day off
Discretionary bonus scheme after a qualifying period
Project-based salary enhancements after the qualifying period
Project-based travel subsidies
Professional development program aligned to the role progression path
LinkedIn Learning access and other role-based training
IT equipment provided
Flexible working arrangements (subject to client needs and role requirements), including home-based setup with reasonable flexibility in hours and location
A 90-day trial period will apply
