Hilton Brown Swimming came into existence in 1973 and we have been successfully teaching New Zealanders to swim for over 50 years. We have 8 swim schools in the Upper North Island and teach learn to swim to infants, preschoolers, school age children and adults.
We provide FULL training to all our instructors. We hire people with great communication skills and a positive can-do attitude who have a love of helping others succeed. Then we train them to become the best swimming instructors possible.
We are currently looking to train Instructors to teach our Learn to Swim and our Stroke Development Programmes. It is essential that you have a love of the water and enjoy interacting with children.
Learn to Swim Instructor
As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you will be teaching preschool and school-aged children the basics of swimming and water safety. You don’t need to be an elite swimmer to teach the Learn to Swim programme — you just need a passion for helping the next generation of New Zealanders grow up capable and confident in the water.
Stroke Development Instructor
Our Stroke Programme is designed for swimmers who can swim between 25m and 400m+. These classes focus on developing technique in all four strokes - butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle - to help children build confidence and endurance in the water. As a Stroke Instructor you would have a strong swimming background along with a sound knowledge of the correct technique for all four strokes.
Shifts & flexibility
We have a variety of shifts available across weekday afternoons and weekends.
Our shift times are:
Weekday afternoons: 3:15pm–6:15pm
Weekends: 7:45am–12:15pm
Please note: Successful applicants must be be in a position to commit to the role for a minimum 12 months.
Please note that you need to be at least 16 years of age to become a Swimming Instructor.
