Digital Marketing Coordinator

32 hour per week role - pro rata rates $48,000 to $56,000 depending on experience.

We’re looking for a creative and organised Digital Marketing Coordinator to help deliver engaging digital marketing that showcases Waimakariri’s trails, gardens, towns, events, businesses and visitor experiences.

This role focuses on creating and delivering digital content across Visit Waimakariri social media platforms and website as other marketing channels.  You will need to maintain strong community engagement, and ensure visitors can easily find up-to-date information about what’s happening across the district.

You will be responsible for maintaining a vibrant and accurate online and physical events calendar, working with event organisers to promote what’s happening across the district, and assisting with the administration of the district’s events fund.

You will report to and work with the District Promotions Manager.

1. Digital Content & Social Media

  • Maintain the Visit Waimakariri content calendar.

  • Create engaging digital content including reels, stories and static posts.

  • Schedule and publish content across Visit Waimakariri social media platforms.

  • Monitor and manage community engagement including comments and direct messages.

  • Maintain and organise the digital asset library (images, video and content resources).

  • Keep website current with imagery and business listings.

2. Marketing Campaign Delivery

  • Support the delivery of marketing campaigns as directed by the District Promotions Manager.

  • Coordinate external creatives including photographers, videographers and designers.

  • Ensure campaign assets are delivered on time, correctly formatted and scheduled across channels.

  • Assist with light creative edits and formatting using tools such as Canva.

3. Events Promotion & Calendar Management

  • Maintain the Visit Waimakariri online events calendar, ensuring listings are accurate and up to date.

  • Coordinate the monthly events calendar for digital and physical distribution.

  • Work with event organisers to gather information and promote events across appropriate channels.

4. Events Funding Administration

  • Assist with the administration of the district’s events funding programmes (three rounds per year).

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and communication with applicants.

  • Support reporting requirements for funding allocations.

5. Reporting & Performance Tracking

  • Track digital marketing metrics including reach, engagement and website interactions.

  • Prepare monthly performance summaries for the District Promotions Manager.

  • Identify trends, issues or opportunities to optimise digital marketing activity

Ideally you will have:

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience creating and managing content for social media platforms; reels, stories, static.

  • Strong written communication skills and an eye for engaging digital content.

  • Experience using social media scheduling and analytical tools: ad manager, Meta Business Suite

  • Experience updating website content using a CMS.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Confidence coordinating and working businesses, event organisers or suppliers.

Desirable

  • Experience in tourism, destination marketing, events or community promotion.

  • Experience using Canva or similar design tools.

  • Experience tracking and reporting digital marketing performance.
