Boarding Manager

Do you want to work with young people? Make a difference? Build a rewarding career in boarding?

We’ve got an incredible opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young women as they navigate some of the most formative years of their lives.

With staff changes in our boarding team, we are now looking for the right person to take the reins and continue creating a safe, warm, and inspiring environment for our boarding students.

At Nga Tawa, a special character girls’ school in Marton, we believe that boarding is about more than just a place to sleep. It’s about connection, confidence, and community.

This is a chance to be part of a team that wraps around our students, supporting them to grow into strong, resilient young women. You’ll lead a dedicated team of staff and play a key role in shaping the boarding experience.

Boarding can be a rewarding and meaningful career pathway, and we are committed to helping you grow in the role. This position could be an ideal fit for someone studying or looking to move into a people-focused career.

We will support you to gain professional qualifications through the New Zealand Boarding Schools’ Association, and provide opportunities to grow your skills, confidence, and leadership experience. Whether you see yourself building a long-term future in boarding or using this as a stepping stone into other areas of education, youth work, or wellbeing, we’re here to support your journey.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, approachable manner

  • A flexible attitude, an ability to think on their feet and manage a routine

  • An understanding of cultural diversity

  • A clean driver’s licence and a current first aid certificate

A background in education, youth work, healthcare, or similar people-focused roles is a bonus, but we’re really looking for someone who wants to make a difference and foster a warm, supportive environment where our girls can grow and flourish.

Hours are 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm, five days a week, with minimal school holiday time required for planning and professional development.
