Senior Automotive Technican/Mechanic
Are you a seasoned mechanic looking for a workshop you can truly call your own? We have recently taken over an established site and are putting the finishing touches on a complete renovation. We’re looking for a Senior Mechanic who is either a WoF Inspector or interested in training to become a WoF Inspector to help us set the standard from day one.
This isn’t just a job on the tools; it’s an opportunity to help shape the workflow and culture of a revitalised shop. You will have your own dedicated hoist, a fresh workspace, and the autonomy to manage your workflow while ensuring our customers get top-tier service.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Leadership: Utilising your experience to diagnose complex mechanical issues accurately and efficiently.
Hands-on Repair: Performing a wide range of automotive repairs and servicing.
Customer Advocacy: Translating technical findings into clear, honest advice for our customers, ensuring they understand the "why" behind every repair.
Mentorship: Providing guidance and support to our apprentice, when needed, helping to share your knowledge and build a high-performing workshop team.
Shop Standards: Taking pride in maintaining a professional, clean, and safe working environment.
What We Offer
Competitive Compensation: Excellent rates based on your experience and skill level.
Autonomy: Your own dedicated hoist and workspace—bring your tools, set up your bench, and make it your own.
Work-Life Balance: A standard 5-day week (one weekend day required) with flexible start/finish times to help you balance your life outside the workshop.
Growth Path: We are in a growth phase; we are committed to supporting your professional development and further upskilling.
Culture: A flat, supportive management structure where your expertise is heard, valued, and respected.
About You
You are a career-focused professional who balances meticulous attention to detail with high-efficiency work habits. You value road safety above all else, and you take pride in the quality of your repairs. You are a great communicator who can explain technical issues without resorting to confusing jargon.
Requirements
Qualifications: Preferably hold a NZTA Vehicle Inspector (VI) authority or be happy to undertake the training for this.
Experience: 5+ years of solid, hands-on workshop experience.
Licence: Full, clean NZ Driver’s Licence (Class 1).
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English skills.
Character: Reliable, self-motivated, and take genuine pride in your trade.
