Role Overview
 
The Civil Surveyor is responsible for carrying out surveying activities on civil construction projects to ensure work is completed accurately and according to design specifications. This includes site measurements, setting out works, and providing survey data to support construction teams.
The role plays a key part in ensuring projects such as roads, subdivisions, drainage, and earthworks are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys and measurements to establish land boundaries, elevations, and construction layouts.
  • Perform setting out for civil works including roads, drainage, foundations, and earthworks.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and construction plans to ensure accurate site positioning.
  • Use survey equipment such as GPS systems, Total Stations, and laser levels.
  • Prepare and maintain survey records, reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure accuracy of construction works.
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure work is completed within design tolerances.
  • Assist with quality control and compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with health and safety requirements.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience working as a Civil Surveyor or Engineering Surveyor.
  • Experience within civil construction, infrastructure, or earthworks projects.
  • Proficiency using survey equipment (Total Station, GPS, Leica, Trimble or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Experience using survey software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or 12d is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with site teams.
Qualifications
  • Qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant surveying certifications or training.
  • Full driver's licence.
