Senior Product Development Technologist

Oranutrition Limited is a rapid growing healthcare products manufacturer and we are currently looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Product Development Technologist to join our team in Wiri, Auckland. Reporting to the NPD Manager, this role is a key part of our Innovation Team based at our South Auckland manufacturing site.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in supporting and guiding the production team to ensure efficient manufacturing processes, strong product quality control, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards, with particular expertise in nutraceutical production equipment and processes.

This is an on-site full time role (9am–5.30pm, Monday to Friday). You'll be working closely with NPD team, quality team and procurement team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage NPD and product quality improvement plans alongside managing the product development stage of projects

  • Develop and optimise product formulations and prototype samples

  • Oversee product trials, scale-up processes and initial production runs, ensuring smooth transition to manufacturing

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, procurement, production and sales to ensure project success

  • Ensure product formulations, specifications, and artwork comply with FSANZ regulations and relevant industry standards

  • Support and mentor junior technologists within the team

  • Maintain product databases and ERP systems to ensure accurate technical and regulatory records


Essential requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of the manufacturing processes for tablets, powders, soft capsules, and hard capsules.

  • Tertiary qualification, with Science or Food Technology

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in product development within the FMCG, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing industry

  • Strong knowledge of food safety requirements, and allergen management

  • Excellent problem-solving, organisation and project management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Technical experience in the FMCG industry is preferred

  • Bilingual preferred, particularly in Mandarin would be added advantage
