Senior Automotive Transmission Mechanic

We are looking for an experienced qualified automotive mechanic/ technician to join our professional team. Initially working in the fitting shop, however potentially with the view to eventually progressing into our dedicated automatic, or manual department as a dedicated rebuilder.

Ideally to be considered for this position the applicant must already have prior experience, working on a large range of automotive transmissions - cars and light trucks only. (This must be backed up by at least 5 years of solid work experience - supported by great references).   

 Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Stripping and rebuilding automotive gearboxes

  • Identifying and diagnosing faults in internal stripped assemblies i.e. automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, transfer cases and differentials

  • Replacing and/or repairing parts to a high standard and ensuring thorough QA before release

  • Working independently and with minimal supervision

  • Any other general automotive tasks as needed, e.g. services etc

Ideal Skillset already

  • Experience in transmission diagnostic work on a range of types of cars and light truck gearboxes

  • Stripping and rebuilding gearboxes of various types , either manual or automatic vehicles

  • Experience in fault identification in stripped internal assemblies, either manual or automatic vehicles

  • Experience in diagnosing faults and then repairing, transmissions, clutches, transfer cases and differentials

  • Repairing parts to a high standard and ensuring thorough QA before release to customer

  • As needed, general automotive tasks, e.g. servicing, fitting transmissions etc

  • Be well presented and have excellent written and spoken English

  • Have a great work ethic and work predominantly unsupervised

  • Have your own comprehensive tool kit

This position is a full time role 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, Monday - Friday. The remuneration rate will be totally dependent on current skillset and what the candidate can bring to the company.

Note: ONLY applicants with New Zealand citizenship, and experienced qualified senior mechanics, will be considered for this role.
