Qualified ECE Teacher

We have a permanent, full time (40 hours per week) opportunity for a Qualified teacher at our Petone Early Learning Centre.

As a Qualified Teacher, you'll be at the heart of our mission to shape brighter futures for children across Aotearoa.

Your role will be crucial in:

  • Providing high-quality, professional care and education in various early childhood settings
  • Supporting children's curiosity and development through responsive, play-based learning
  • Collaborating with diverse teams to deliver engaging, culturally responsive programs

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement curriculum aligned with Te Whāriki, adapting quickly to different center environments
  • Contribute to planning and evaluation of learning programs that respond to children's interests
  • Create inclusive, equitable learning opportunities that celebrate diversity
  • Document children's learning through profile books and e-portfolios as needed
  • Maintain professional standards and stay current with ECE best practices

Qualifications and Experience

  • NZQA approved qualification in early childhood teaching (required)
  • Full registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand (required)
  • Current practicing certificate (required)
  • Experience working with young children in various ECE settings
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to new environments quickly
  • Commitment to quality practice and the principles of Te Whāriki
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, "can-do" attitude
  • Enthusiasm for making a difference in children's early years
  • Strong desire to build connections with whānau and families
