Lead Development Engineer
About Us
APEXX is a specialist commercial vehicle manufacturer operating at the premium end of the market. We design and build high-end tourism vehicle interiors, advanced seating systems, and commercial truck body solutions.
We are entering a structured growth phase and transitioning from a custom-heavy workshop model to a scalable, repeatable manufacturing platform.
To support this evolution, we are looking for a Lead Development Engineer based at our Takanini offices and production facility.
About the Role
You will be working with a dedicated and highly skilled team on concepts, prototypes, design and production. This role will play an important part in our growth and offers genuine opportunity to help shape the future of our business.
Your work will focus on building first of type / prototype assemblies, and using your judgement to make decisions on constructability and design sign offs.
Driving repeatability and scalability, defining standards and influencing production efficiency will all be key priorities.
This is not a workshop supervisory role, but you can expect to be hands on and working on production processes regularly.
About You
You are likely to be top of your game in specialist coachbuilding, commercial truck or bus manufacturing, high end motorhome production or marine / aircraft fitout.
Extensive experience in prototype or first of type projects is essential and you should bring a deep understanding production processes to the role.
This is a highly collaborative role so strong people skills should complement your disciplined approach around standards and processes.
We use SolidWorks, so experience here is useful. More important is your ability to develop first-of-type prototypes and work with draftspeople to turn the physical builds into shop-ready CAD drawings.
A six figure salary dependent on experience is on offer to the successful candidate and you can expect to see a clear career growth path in this role.
Apply with a cover letter and CV or call Kris on 021 0883 5617 to talk about the role.
