Our four power brands — Nutra-Life, Healtheries, Athena and Musashi — have been empowering healthier lives across Australia, New Zealand and more than 30 countries worldwide for over 100 years.

Health and wellness is our passion. From best-in-class manufacturing capabilities to our dedicated customer service teams, Vitaco employs over 650 people across New Zealand and Australia, all committed to delivering the highest quality products for consumers around the world.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Product Development Process Technologist to join our NPD Supplements team based in East Tamaki.

This role plays an important part in supporting the successful delivery and optimisation of supplement products within our manufacturing environment. Working closely with Operations, Marketing, Quality and Supply teams, you will help ensure formulations remain robust, efficient and commercially viable while supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

In your role  you will contribute to the industrialisation of innovation and renovation projects — helping move products from pilot trials through to full manufacturing scale while ensuring efficiency, product quality and process stability.

What You Will Be Responsible For

You will support the development and maintenance of product formulations to ensure they remain workable and efficient within manufacturing environments.

A key part of the role involves supporting the industrialisation of innovation and renovation projects, assisting with pilot trials, scale-up activities and reviewing first production batches to ensure processes perform as expected.

You will investigate and resolve manufacturing issues related to formulation or materials, working closely with Operations and Quality teams to identify root causes and implement long-term improvements.

You will also coordinate small-scale trials for reformulated products and generate the necessary technical documentation, including manufacturing instructions, updated formulations, specifications and trial reports.

In addition, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site, identifying opportunities to enhance product performance, improve efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs through formulation or material improvements.

The role also involves collaborating with suppliers on technical matters, supporting procurement initiatives through ingredient evaluations and staying informed about emerging excipient technologies, raw materials and manufacturing developments.

About You

You are a technically minded professional with strong process understanding and a passion for improving product performance within manufacturing environments.

You will bring:

  • Experience working within pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, dietary supplement or FMCG manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing trials and process improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate formulation or material-related manufacturing issues
  • Experience generating or working with manufacturing documentation and technical specifications
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with cross-functional teams across operations, quality and marketing

A tertiary qualification in Pharmaceutical Science, Food Technology, Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Experience with solid dose forms, tableting or coating technologies would be advantageous.
