For over 40 years, Odyssey House Christchurch has had a mission to improve the wellbeing of individuals, family and community affected by drug and alcohol addiction, mental health and related issues.
We require a peer support worker to work as part of the Christchurch Central Service team (CCS) working with alcohol and other drugs. CCS is focused on supporting consumers to obtain access to services that they require.
The Peer Support team supports clients in the community, including those in Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST).
In this role you will be:
Involved in the entry point to the addiction sector, and working alongside clients on their recovery journey.
Answering phone calls and meeting clients who want to self refer for support.
Providing information around treatment and recovery options
Supporting groups that occur for clients, family and whanau
We are looking for a person with
Lived experience with alcohol and/or drug
Evidence of working stability to manage a busy workload
Strong communication skills
Administration and computer skills
A Level 4 qualification in health or addiction, or willing to work towards this.
Ability to work 25 hours per week, with the requirement to work one evening a week on a roster.
