About the role:

As a CAD/BIM Technician, you will lead the development and governance of Apex Water’s digital design environment, ensuring our civil and mechanical design teams can deliver efficient, high-quality model-based project outputs.

This role is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and ongoing administration of BIM Collaborate Pro, supporting cloud-based model coordination and collaborative workflows across project teams. The position also oversees the management and maintenance of the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environment, ensuring effective document control, collaboration processes, and project data management. 

Reporting to the Design Team Leader, you will drive consistency and efficiency across 2D and 3D design workflows, maintain CAD standards, and support Apex Water’s progression toward BIM-enabled project delivery. You’ll also play a key role in strengthening the drafting capability of the design team through mentoring, technical guidance, and best-practice process development.


What you'll be doing:

  • Manage and maintain the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environment to support collaborative civil and mechanical design delivery.

  • Implementation, configuration, and ongoing administration of BIM Collaborate Pro

  • Produce and support the delivery of high-quality 2D drawings, 3D models, and P&IDs for infrastructure projects.

  • Drive efficient model-based civil design using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface modelling, volumetric earthworks calculations, profiles, and automated long sections.

  • Optimise and maintain Civil 3D and Plant 3D workflows to improve design efficiency and consistency across projects.

  • Develop and maintain CAD standards, templates, libraries, and processes to ensure reliable and coordinated design outputs.

  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance of drafting and modelling outputs.

  • Support engineers and project teams through collaboration, design coordination, and digital delivery improvements.

  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate drafting staff, helping to build stronger internal civil drafting capability.

 

About you and what you'll bring:

You’re an experienced CAD/BIM professional who combines strong technical drafting expertise with a passion for improving digital design workflows. You enjoy working closely with engineers and project teams to deliver accurate, coordinated models and drawings while lifting overall design capability.

Ideally you’ll bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience in civil and/or mechanical drafting, including time in a senior or lead CAD role delivering complex infrastructure projects.

  • Advanced hands-on expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, including surface modelling, alignments, profiles, and earthworks calculations.

  • Strong experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and producing P&IDs and 3D plant models.

  • Proven experience working within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environments, including document control through Autodesk Docs and cloud-based design collaboration using BIM Collaborate Pro

  • Experience developing CAD standards, templates, and digital delivery processes across teams or projects.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail and the ability to mentor others.

Experience supporting BIM-enabled delivery or model coordination across projects would be advantageous.
