Bid Manager

We are looking for a practical, commercially sharp Bid Manager to join CB Civil. This is a strong move for someone coming out of projects - a Project Engineer or Project Manager - who understands delivery and wants to influence outcomes earlier in the project lifecycle.

Your Key Impact

You will secure quality, commercially sound work that aligns with our self-performing model and regional capability. By identifying risk early, strengthening methodology and ensuring robust pricing, you will help set projects up for strong delivery and sustainable growth. Your contribution will directly influence the type of work we win and how successfully we deliver it.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing bid strategy, win themes and positioning

• Managing tender timelines

• Ensuring compliance with client requirements

• Preparing technical submissions (method statements, programs, capability statements)

• Managing first-principles pricing and commercial build-ups

• Identifying and mitigating commercial and delivery risk

• Engaging suppliers and subcontractors to sharpen competitiveness

• Working alongside Regional and Project Managers to ensure seamless handover to delivery

What You’ll Bring

Key Requirements

• 10+ years experience in civil construction

• Strong understanding of NZ contract conditions (e.g. NZS 3910, 3916, Construction Contracts Act)

• Proven ability to assess risk and influence commercial outcomes

• Practical knowledge of infrastructure projects e.g. three waters, rail, structures or land development

Preferred:

• Site based civil experience

• Experience in delivery as a Project Engineer or Project Manager

• Experience leading tenders or contributing to complex bids

• CCS (Candy) experience

Most importantly, you understand how projects actually work and you're ready to apply that knowledge at the front end.
