Financial Accountant

• Up To $110,000 Per Annum (Pro Rata)  + 8% Holiday Pay + KiwiSaver 
• 3 - 6 month temporary role 

  
Step into a role where your financial expertise directly supports the future of Aotearoa working for a regional authority.  We’re looking for a skilled Financial Accountant to lead core financial functions, strengthen financial governance, and provide trusted advice across the organisation. 
  
What you’ll do: 

• Lead statutory reporting, audit processes, and financial compliance
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, month-end and year-end processes 
• Manage AP/AR operations, cashflow, financial systems, and asset accounting
• Provide high quality financial insights to senior leaders and elected members
• Support long term planning, financial strategy, and continuous improvement
• Build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders. 

  
What you’ll bring: 

• A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or business
• 7+ years’ senior finance or accounting experience in a complex environment (ideally government)
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, reporting, and internal controls
• Experience leading or developing people
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly 
• High integrity, sound judgement, and a commitment to professional excellence
